Charlotte - Assistant Management Accountant

Charlotte has worked at Claranet for nearly 3 years, starting initially in accounts receivable and then moving on to management accounts. She currently works as an Assistant Management Accountant in the Finance department, and is at the same time studying for professional accountancy qualifications. Her responsibilities include working on a range of Claranet’s accounts, including the Claranet Group and Tagadab accounts.

What brought you to Claranet?

When I first interviewed for my role at Claranet, I actually had another interview elsewhere also. But once I had seen the atmosphere and met some of the staff at Claranet, I knew I wanted to work here. My decision had been made about where I wanted to work before I even got to the other interview. And lucky enough, I was offered the position!

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I actually enjoy what I do. While it's busy at times, I like the rush at month-end and at audit time. Although I also enjoy the calmer times of the month, when I can get prepared for the next month-end. The only thing I don't enjoy much is the amount of paperwork there is to file away!

How have you developed since then?

I have developed new skills, and gained a lot of experience - from working in accounts receivable and helping out in credit control, to working in management accounts and taking on some bigger responsibilities. I am studying for professional qualifications with the AAT at evening college, which Claranet has supported me with. I find this helps me with a lot of my day-to-day tasks. I am due to complete these exams later in the year.

What's the working atmosphere like?

It can be hectic at times, but it's also great fun. There's quite a relaxed atmosphere, and everyone's really friendly - which is great. If I had to sum it up in 3 simple words, I'd say that it's very educational (I've learnt a lot here), occasionally hard work, but also really joyful.
