Mushtaq - Solution Support Engineer

Mushtaq joined Claranet in October 2007, and works as a Solution Support Engineer. He acts as the first point of contact for our customers, to provide them with support for their Claranet service - whether this invloves private networks, MPLS, international connectivity, firewalls, hosting, or managed services.

What brought you to Claranet?

I was looking to work for a company that was evolving and growing - and at the forefront of technology. I thought that Claranet was a progressive company, and since joining, I have not only made good use of my previous experience, I have also developed my skills further.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

It's a mix of many things. Communicating with customers, troubleshooting complex solutions, learning new technologies, and resolving technical problems - all this gives me real satisfaction.

What do you find more challenging?

When I have to give customers any bad news, like there has been a supplier outage or customer service is down, I am always concerned for the end user. So we always work hard to resolve issues, by following our suppliers' escalation processes, and by keeping our customer updated until the service is restored.

How have you grown & developed within the company?

I joined Claranet in 2007, and have enjoyed every minute of my time here. I have expanded my knowledge base and experience, and have also progressed through different roles - first as a Support Agent for our connectivity services, to my current role as Solution Support engineer. Claranet has supported my professional development by providing me with the relevant training and experience I needed for this role. They have also supported me through my studies to gain further qualifications. And I now feel I have a clearly defined career path.

What's it like working at Claranet?

Working with technology is exciting, and there's an atmosphere of expertise and knowledge that's great to be around. But it's also a very supportive environment. People are really friendly, and it's very easy to settle in quickly. It's true that we all work hard, but we also enjoy what we do - and there is a sense of appreciation and respect.
