Using Internet Explorer 7

Internet Explorer 7 is the latest version of the popular browser from Microsoft. It has advanced browsing features such as tabbed browsing. This guide gives you some information on how to use Internet Explorer 7. To customize your IE7 settings click on the Tools menu and then Internet Options.

On the general screen are the settings for your history folder which contains all the pages you have recently visited. Here you can change the number of days to keep pages in the history. To do this simply click on Settings

You can access the history list in the browser directly by clicking on View in the Explorer bar and History. This can also be done using the History button on the Internet Explorer toolbar. You will notice that there are folders for every day.

Temporary Internet Files

You can delete the temporary internet files to save disk space. To do so, click on the Delete button under the "Browsing History" section (located in the Internet Options window under the general tab). Then in the next window (as shown below), click on the Delete files button for the "Temporary Internet Files".

You can also edit the settings for your temporary Internet files here. The temporary Internet files folder contains all the webpages you have opened recently. The webpages are copied to this folder so that if you open them again, they will be loaded a lot quicker rather than having to download them again.

To change the settings click on Settings.

Here you can change when Internet Explorer will check for newer versions of the pages in the folder, the amount of disk space available for the folder and the location of the folder. Click Ok to go back to the general screen.

Favourites

1) You can store your favourite web addresses in Internet Explorer to save you having to type them in everytime you're online. You can export your favourites list to another PC or browser by clicking on File then "Import and Export".

2) You will now see the wizard shown below. Click on Next.

3) Now select "Export Favourites" and click on Next.

4) If you wish to keep all favourites then you can leave the favourites folder selected and click on Next.

5) Choose a name for the file and a location to save it and click Save.

6) Click on Finish to complete the wizard. To Import, just follow the wizard again and choose Import instead of Export and follow the wizard's instructions.
