FTP Using Filezilla

Filezilla is a free FTP client that can be used for all kinds of FTP functions. The following is a guide into uploading and downloading content to your Claranet webspace using Filezilla.

1) Open Filezilla and click on File and then Site Manager.

2) Click on the new site button and give the site a name; e.g. Clara Website and fill in the following information:

Host: If you have a Clarahost package, enter the domain name including the www e.g. www.testdomain.com. If you have a dial-up or broadband account, enter home.clara.net as the host.

Server type: Leave it as the default option which is FTP

Logon Type: Leave it as the default option which is Normal

User: If you have a Clarahost package, enter your domain name excluding the www e.g. testdomain.com. If you have a Claranet dial-up or broadband account, enter your username.

Password: Enter your FTP password for your domain name or your normal Claranet password if you have a standard Claranet account (non hosting).

Once the details are entered, you can either click on Connect to, connect automatically or "Save and "Exit" to connect at a later time.

If you wish to connect to your Clara webspace later, follow step 1 and then at the next screen select your site from the site manager and click on Connect.

You can now drag and drop files to and from your webspace. Please note, when uploading to ClaraHost webspace, please upload to the www folder which is contained within the Public folder.
