FTP using Internet Explorer

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is the simplest way to transferfiles to and from web space via the internet.

FTP using Internet Explorer

1) Launch Internet Explorer, and enter the FTP hostname in the address bar. This takes the form of ftp://www.yourdomainname followed by .com, .co.uk or whichever domain extension you have chosen.

FTP Requirements

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a simple and efficient way to transfer files to and from web space via an Internet connection.

Requirements

1) You must have your computer connected to the Internet.

2) Port 21 on your firewall should be open/unblocked toenable communications with our server.

3) A web browser or a FTP client installed on the computer. Examples of web browsers are Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari. Examples of FTP clients are Smart FTP, FileZilla and Fetch.

Fetch is an FTP client used on Mac OS X. The following is a guide to connecting to your Claranet webspace using Fetch.

If you are running fetch for the first time, the "New Connection" window box is presented to you. If you are not running Fetch for the first time, you can choose "New Connection" from the File menu to display the new connection window.

The following is a guide into uploading to your Clara webspace using WSFTP.

1) Open WSFTP, click on the arrow next to the Connection icon on the toolbar and then click on "Connection Wizard" or click on the connection icon to bring up the site manager and click on "New Site".

2) You will be presented with a welcome screen. Click on Next to proceed.

The following is a guide into uploading to your Claranet webspace using Cute FTP.

1) Open CuteFTP. In the main window please click on the Site Manager icon.

2) Click on New and select "New FTP Site". Now please enter the following:

Label: The name you wish to use to identify the connection with e.g. Clara Site.

FTP Using Smart FTP

1) Open Smart FTP once it has been installed on your PC.

You can obtain a copy of Smart FTP from http://www.smartftp.com.

2) Insert your host/server name into the box next to the address bar.Enter your login details in the boxes provided.

3) Select File and "New Remote Browser".Enter the required information then click OK.
