There is no doubt Christmas will be different for many this year and here at Claranet is no different. Setting aside the Christmas Parties we have been looking how we can still support our employees and local communities whilst keeping that festive cheer alive.
This year saw us participate in ‘Operation Christmas Child’ for the first time, supporting the Samaritans Purse, bringing a little Christmas Magic to those who might not else experience it this Christmas. Through the generosity of our employees, we put together over twenty boxes filled with educational gifts, toys, healthcare products and clothes, considering the current economic position we are humbled by people’s willingness to still help those in need.
The Trussell Foundation recently posted that 1 in 5 working households need the support of foodbanks this Christmas and that overall usage of foodbanks is up 25%. We all know its fun and enjoyable to get together and celebrate over Christmas, we felt that helping our communities to enjoy their Christmas was a much more positive use of our budget.
Claranet are extremely proud to be supporting local foodbanks in each of our core office locations and by partnering organisations in Leeds, Warrington, Gloucester, and London we hope to help those in need of an extra helping hand this Christmas.
Not wanting to make just a token corporate gesture to our local charities, we have also offered our employees the opportunity to help these organisations. By partnering with each local foodbank, our employees have the opportunity to use a dedicated ‘Charity Support’ day to help in person at one of the foodbanks or organise a time to ‘skill share’ with their existing volunteers.

We also took part in Christmas Jumper Day in aid of Save The Children, raising crucial funds whilst wearing our favourite festive knits.
Not to be a complete Grinch to our employees this year, we are also offering interactive cooking classes on both the 8th and 15th of December with Kat Winterbottom. Having studied at Leith’s, Kat now works as food buyer for Sainsbury’s and is also a freelance chef, specialising in ‘feel good food’ – food that not only tastes great, but is better for you too!
Last, but certainly not least we are also hosting our annual ‘Bring Your Child To Work’ Day – our first in person event back in the office after delivering virtually for the past two years. Our colleagues are invited to bring their children into their closest office location for a morning of festive fun. Mince pies, Christmas tree decoration making, a visit from Santa and learning what their parent does all day at work is all on the agenda. We look forward to sharing the results with you in the New Year…
