Claranet group product manager, Martin Saunders explains:
The additional bandwidth allows Claranet to offer advanced high availability solutions such as multi-site application hosting with real time database replication.
This ensures our IP VPN solutions continue to have the network resources to maintain their market leading Service Level Guarantees.
The new network, which is based on Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology, runs on top of the very new 10 Gigabit Ethernet technology, purported to run up to 10 times faster than gigabit Ethernet. In addition, the network is built on a Dark Fibre Intrastructure, and utilises Cisco XR 12000 series routers.
The upgrades to Claranet's four data centres will commence in August and will be completed by October. No associated problems are anticipated.
