Claranet helps Five.TV cull 15 web hosting deals to one

Claranet has been selected by UK TV broadcasting company FIVE TV to host and manage its principal websites: FIVE corporate, FIVE FWD (The Gadget Show and Fifth Gear), FIVE News and Neighbours. Claranet’s managed application hosting service will reduce costs by approximately £100,000, according to Five’s digital controller Paul Thornton-Jones, improve operational efficiency, as well as ensure the overall performance of the websites amidst an explosion in web traffic and demand for video and interactive content. It will allow FIVE’s IT team to focus on their core business: producing fresh, top quality content and supporting the growth of the broadcaster’s online business and community. According to Thornton-Jones, Claranet came out on top of an in-depth assessment of a wide range of providers for a number of reasons. “We were especially impressed by the team’s understanding of our business and objectives, and the issues broadcasters face in developing their online presence. They also demonstrated outstanding expertise, dedication and flexibility, all of which is reflected in their end-to-end managed service.”

With a single provider, we have much better performance online, less administration and a single set of quality standards, which means we know what to expect and how to react in case of any issues. Five technology manager François Chabat.
