Investing in young people into the cloud skills market

When it comes to young people in our business, we continue to invest the time, training and money needed to help them flourish.

The level of enthusiasm from our younger team members is unmatched. They've been eager to impress and make an impact, and are willing to go above and beyond to ensure the business is thriving.

They come armed with a wealth of bright ideas and the skills to make them become a reality, skills which our business is helping to hone and perfect. They are always happy to learn new talents that is helping them advance in their careers here at Claranet.

Our Graduate Trainee Programme, now in its second year (and expanding), is all about helping the best talent move from their university studies into the high-potential world of work that is public cloud.

In the inaugural year, we took on three graduates to create a new Cloud Sales Analyst team. Developing new business opportunities is never easy, but it has given our graduates a world of fantastic experience dealing with existing and new customers.

The amazing news is that these graduates have passed through the year with flying colours and have just started contracts as Cloud Sales Specialists.

Kim

Joining the graduate scheme through Pareto, I was unsure of the expectations, and the learning curve. But from the very start the support and structure from Claranet made it clear we were valued, and that as we push our own career path, Claranet will be willing to support and enable progression. I am given endless opportunities to further study and learning and support when I need it, and this has helped me to be promoted to the Cloud Sales Specialist role. It is refreshing to work in a team that not only believes that you can achieve more, but to work for a company that celebrates with you when you do.

Nikki

I am very thankful and glad to have joined Claranet straight out of university. It is a hugely rewarding company to work for with continuous learning opportunities, there is a lot to learn, and a very supportive fun team to work alongside. It is the people that make Claranet such a fantastic company to work for and of course our fantastic customers, each with their own unique challenges and aspirations. Having been recently promoted to a Cloud Sales Specialist I know I am working for a company that believes in me and the sky is the limit if you work hard and are passionate about what you do.

We've recently just launched a Undergraduate Placement Programme giving undergraduates in the middle of their course an amazing view of the world of work in their chosen field.

Over 12 months, students will move around each team to gain a comprehensive understanding of how our award-winning cloud business at Claranet works.

Meet our first two undergraduates:

Scott

My name is Scott. I am a Computer Networking student at Sheffield Hallam University. While searching for a placement my eyes were drawn to Claranet because they offered me the chance to work on the frontline of cloud computing. I’m loving being with a company that is well-established with a wide and varied customer base, highly skilled staff… and all from the comfort of my home via remote working

Zak

Hey, I’m Zak and I’m a computer science student at Brunel University London. I wanted to join Claranet because there is a strong focus on corporate social responsibility to support a number of not-for-profit organisations. The company is also enabling me to explore my ever-growing interest in cloud computing. It’s brilliant.
